Standardized, Transparent, and Technology-Enabled Cost Estimation

How It Works

We provide a standardized, transparent, and technology-enabled cost estimation and quantity surveying service for clients across global markets. This service ensures accuracy, consistency, and integration with MEICON's Project Management Consultancy (PMC) framework and Global Capability Center (GCC) model.

Scope

These standards apply to all MEICON projects globally, including the U.S. and India. They cover internal and third-party work across all major sectors—such as Civil, MEP, and Infrastructure—for residential, commercial, and institutional developments.

Service Overview

MEICON provides integrated design and engineering services across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines, powered by BIM technology and offshore collaboration. Our hybrid structure — combining on-site design management with offshore production — enables faster delivery, enhanced accuracy, and significant cost savings.

Procedure Overview

Process Flow

01.
Project Intake & Scoping
  • Client submits project drawings, scope documents, and relevant addenda.
  • Estimation Lead reviews inputs for completeness and issues Information Requirement Checklist (IRC).
  • Once validated, project is logged in MEICON’s Project Tracker (via Power BI / SharePoint).
  • Estimation Manager assigns an Estimator (and supporting quantity takeoff engineers).
  • A Kick-off Meeting is held to clarify:
    • Scope of work and deliverables.
    • Required format (CSI division, BOQ, or client template).
    • Estimation methodology (conceptual, schematic, DD, or IFC).
    • Schedule for draft and final submissions.
  • Drawings uploaded to Bluebeam / PlanSwift / AutoCAD environment.
  • QTO prepared discipline-wise using MEICON’s Standard Measurement Sheet (SMS) format.
  • All measurements undergo dual verification:
    • Engineer → Peer Estimator → Estimation Lead review.
  • Unit rates derived from:
    • Local market database (India / U.S.)
    • Historical MEICON cost library
    • Supplier/sub-contractor quotes
  • Indirect costs, overheads, and contingencies applied as per project stage.
  • Benchmarking against similar past projects performed before submission.
  • Final estimate structured in MEICON template:
    • Summary (Trade-wise)
    • Detailed BOQ (Item-wise)
    • Assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions
  • Reviewed by Estimation Manager → Quality Lead → Project Director (as needed).
  • All estimates undergo MEICON QC Form (EST-QC-01) verification:
    • Quantity accuracy
    • Rate validation
    • Formatting and version control
  • QC approval logged in Power BI dashboard.
  • Final submission shared in required format (Excel, PDF, or client portal upload).
    • Cover Letter
    • Summary Report
    • Benchmarking Table
  • Revision cycle tracked through Version Log Register until client acceptance.
  • Final approved files stored in MEICON Cloud Repository.
  • Lessons learned and cost trends added to the MEICON Cost Database.
  • Monthly review meetings held to identify automation or template improvements.
