Standardized, Efficient, and Cost-Optimized Framework

How It Works

To establish a standardized, efficient, and cost-optimized framework for delivering Design, BIM Modeling, CAD Drafting, and Shop Drawing Services through MEICON’s Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and Global Capability Center (GCC). This service ensures all design deliverables are executed with technical precision, global consistency, and measurable cost efficiency.

Scope

Overseeing all design, drafting, and modeling activities across MEICON projects, this role integrates multidisciplinary efforts spanning Architectural, Structural, and MEPF domains. With a scope extending to projects in India, the U.S., and global markets, it manages the complete design lifecycle from initial Concept and Design Development through to the final IFC and As-Built stages.

Service Overview

MEICON provides integrated design and engineering services across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines, powered by BIM technology and offshore collaboration. Our hybrid structure — combining on-site design management with offshore production — enables faster delivery, enhanced accuracy, and significant cost savings.

Process Flow

01.
Project Intake & Scope Definition
  • Client provides design brief, RFP, or markups.
  • Design Lead issues Design Requirement Checklist (DRC) outlining:
    • Deliverable stages (Concept, DD, IFC, As-Built).
    • Target LOD and software platform.
    • Timeline and expected formats (DWG, RVT, NWC, IFC, PDF).
  • Project registered in MEICON Design Tracker (Power BI / SharePoint).
  • Resources assigned:
    • Design Lead (Architectural / Structural / MEP).
    • BIM Coordinator.
    • CAD Drafting and QC Teams.
  • Kick-off meeting finalizes:
    • BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
    • Folder hierarchy and file standards.
    • Communication and coordination schedule.
  • Early-stage layouts and 3D models developed at LOD 100–200.
  • Iterations reviewed via cloud collaboration tools (BIM 360, Teams).
  • Concept design turnaround accelerated through GCC visualization teams, improving iteration speed by ~30%.
  • Trade coordination at LOD 300–350.
  • Weekly clash detection and coordination meetings.
  • Navisworks and BIM 360 used for model integration and issue tracking.
  • Efficiency improvement typically 25–35% faster compared to conventional design cycles.
  • Shop drawings developed at LOD 400–500 covering:
    • Architectural finishes and detailing.
    • Structural rebar, concrete, and steel layouts.
    • MEP containment, ducting, and equipment layouts.
  • Drawings standardized as per MEICON CAD Template & Layer Manual.
  • Dual-level review for technical accuracy and presentation.
  • Fabrication drawings produced based on vendor markups and site redlines.
  • As-built models updated using RFI responses and field revisions.
  • Deliverables archived in SharePoint / BIM 360 for traceability.
  • QC process (Form DES-QC-01) validates:
    • Dimensional accuracy.
    • Annotation and layer standards.
    • Clash-free coordination.
    • Revision and version control.
  • QC approval logged in Power BI dashboard prior to client issue.
  • Final deliverables uploaded in client portal or MEICON’s cloud repository.
  • File naming convention:
    • DES-[Project]-[Discipline]-[LOD]-[Rev#]
  • Approved files archived with revision history and QC checklist.
